Surrender is the Highest Praise

Despite our culture's self-reliance, Christ’s example reveals surrender as the highest praise, not weakness. It's acknowledging a greater light, sustenance, and path, beyond ourselves.

"I am the light of the world," declares John 8:12. To follow this light is to put aside the illusion of self-illumination, to acknowledge the inherent darkness of a path walked alone. Surrender, in this context, is to turn away from the shadows of our own understanding and embrace the clarity of God’s guidance. It is admitting that our eyes, clouded by ego and fear, cannot truly navigate the complexities of life.

"I am the bread of life," proclaims John 6:35. Our hunger, both physical and spiritual, is a constant reminder of our inherent insufficiency. To surrender to God as bread is to acknowledge our dependence on a source beyond ourselves, a source that satisfies the deepest longings of the soul. It is to cease the fruitless pursuit of worldly sustenance and instead, find nourishment and satisfaction in the very essence of divine love.

"I am the way, and the truth, and the life," asserts John 14:6. The road of life is often obscured by doubt and uncertainty. To surrender to God’s way is to relinquish the illusion of self-direction, to trust in a path that leads to ultimate truth and eternal life. It is to admit that our own maps are flawed and our compasses unreliable, and to place our faith in the divine navigator.

The man who declared, "I will follow you wherever you go," (Luke 9:57) embodies this spirit of surrender. His willingness to abandon his own plans and embrace an unknown journey exemplifies the profound trust that characterizes true devotion. It is a praise offered not in words, but in the complete and unconditional offering of oneself.

Surrender is victory, not defeat. It triumphs over pride with humility, doubt with trust, and fear with love. By relinquishing control, we gain God’s light on our path, sustenance, and guidance, offering the ultimate praise.

Surrender Is The Highest Praise -Joann Montes

You are the light of the world

You are the bread of life

You are the way, the truth and the life

You are the Prince of peace

You are the Word made flesh

God born to die and give us life

Lead me and I will follow you

Teach me and I will do your will

Let my highest praise be to live for you

Let my highest praise be to give you all that I am

Let my highest praise be to live for you

Let my highest praise be to live surrendered to you
